Blue Bags
Peterborough Litter Wombles diligently separate all litter collected into green bags for general waste and blue bags for recyclable items. Aragon Direct Services then collects these bags, forwarding the blue bags to the recycling center for processing. This method has proven effective, as it is currently the only practice known to work unless a bin is explicitly designated for recyclable items. It is believed that all other public bins do not separate recyclable materials.

Litter Pick Events
Join us in celebrating the incredible impact of the volunteer Litter Pick Events (LPE) happening in Peterborough! With guaranteed LPEs almost every Sunday and additional events on Saturdays and weekdays, our community is coming together to remove thousands of bags of litter and fly-tipping from our streets, hedges, and woodlands. As events become a regular part of our lives, they are essential in light of reduced services from authorities. Let's rally together and support these initiatives, encouraging more people to participate and challenge the council to do more for our environment!

Lamp Post Bins & Bags
Peterborough Litter Wombles began an innovative initiative by placing bags on lamp posts to address litter issues in areas lacking public waste bins. Over time, this practice became a routine, with dedicated volunteers managing the bags and expanding their reach throughout Peterborough. A successful trial with the council led to the installation of lamp bins in Parnwell, where four bins now complement the existing lamp post bags. Thanks to the unwavering commitment of volunteers, the area remains impressively litter-free.
